Sound effects and zooms are timed on the words in your captions. Cutting the pauses moves every later word earlier, so Auto Edit removes the silences first, then places the sound effects and zooms on the new timings. Music doesn’t depend on word timings, so it is composed at the same time as the rest.

Auto Edit also respects what you have already done. If your project already has sound effects, zooms or music, it keeps yours and skips that step. If you have corrected eye contact, it cuts the silences out of the corrected video too, so you keep the fix.

Auto Edit is built for one-take videos of a person talking to the camera: tips, explainers, coaching, founder updates, LinkedIn posts. Those are the videos where the pace, a few sounds, a few zooms and a music bed make most of the difference, and where doing them by hand is the most repetitive.

Skip it, or remove what it adds, when the pauses are part of the video (a demo, a reaction, a dramatic beat), when you need B-roll or transitions placed for you (Submagic and Captions add those), when your takes are full of “ums” (StoryCut doesn’t remove filler words), or when eye contact correction matters more than tight pacing on that video.
