Klap alternatives: the short answer

Short answer
Opus Clip is the closest match, with iPhone and Android apps and a free monthly allowance. Vizard includes 4K on its entry plan and has the best review scores here. StoryCut adds styled captions, sound effects on key words and eye contact correction to AI clips, at a lower price. Submagic, Captions and CapCut fit better if captions or full editing matter more than clip finding.
Klap’s prices
Basic $29/mo or $14/mo billed yearly (100 clips a month, about 10 videos). Pro $79 or $39 (300 clips). Pro+ $189 or $94 (1,000 clips). Free: 1 video, no watermark, no card. Klap tests how its pricing page words these limits, so yours may read differently.
What Klap does well
No watermark on any plan, captions in 52 languages, free clip regeneration, AI reframing with split-screen and gaming layouts, a public API, and official Claude and ChatGPT connectors.
Why people leave
Billing and cancellation complaints on Trustpilot (3.7 from 50 reviews), a 1-video trial, length caps on cheaper plans (45 minutes on Basic, per Klap’s blog), complaints about a slow editor, and no mobile app.
StoryCut
AI clips on every plan (1 long video a month free, 10 on Starter at $7/mo billed yearly), plus 26 caption styles, auto sound effects and eye contact correction (Pro, 1 free eye contact try). Free exports are 720p with a watermark. Web only, no API.

What Klap does well

Klap is a good clipper, and it is fair to start there. Its free video has no watermark, and Klap’s own tool pages promise "No watermarks, ever. Clean clips on every plan, including free." Most rivals watermark free exports. Billed yearly, Basic costs $14/mo, one of the lower prices for a dedicated AI clipper.

Captions come in 52 languages, with animated keyword highlights and auto emojis. AI Reframe 2 handles split screen, screencast and gaming layouts and follows the active speaker. Each clip gets a virality score and a hook title, you can steer clipping with a prompt, and regenerating clips is free.

For publishing and automation, Klap schedules to TikTok, YouTube, Instagram and LinkedIn with unlimited social accounts, has a public REST API with metered pricing ($0.32 per short generated), and offers an official Claude connector and a ChatGPT app.

Why people look for a Klap alternative

Billing is the main reason. Klap has 3.7 stars on Trustpilot from 50 reviews, and 32% of them are 1 star. Reviewers describe being charged "over $800 for the entire year" with "no option to cancel" (June 2026) and being "Unable to cancel as they don’t give you the option" (November 2025).

Limits are the second. Klap’s blog lists videos up to 45 minutes on Basic, 2 hours on Pro and 3 hours on Pro+, so long podcasts push you to a higher plan (other Klap pages say up to 4 hours, and its API up to 5). Each new video needs at least 10 clips left in your allowance, so Basic’s 100 clips work out to about 10 videos a month.

The rest: the free trial is a single video, which is not much to judge it on; there is no mobile app; and some reviewers find the editor slow ("To do one edit, it takes ages", February 2026). Klap’s pages don’t list eye contact correction or sound effects either.

How Klap’s allowance and refunds work

Yearly billing halves the monthly price, and the pricing page code gives yearly plans their full year of allowance up front. The unit itself is being A/B tested: depending on the version you see, the same plans are described in clips (100 / 300 / 1,000), uploads (5 / 15 / 45), source minutes (300 / 900 / 2,700) or exports (15 / 35 / 100) a month. Because each new video needs at least 10 clips left, think of Basic as about 10 videos a month.

The API is billed separately: $0.32 per short generated, $0.44 per video input and $0.48 per export.

Refunds are better than at most rivals, according to Klap’s terms (section 10). You can get a refund before the end of your first month, and up to 3 months back for consecutive months with zero usage. Yearly plans get a full refund in the first month, then 1/12 per month with zero usage, up to 3. Refunds are self-serve after you cancel. One third-party site advertises a "14-day money-back guarantee"; Klap’s terms don’t say that.

The alternatives, one by one

Better than Klap at: caption styling (26 styles, 6 Hormozi-style), sound effects placed on key words (Pro), voice dubbing in 33 languages (Pro), eye contact correction (Pro, 1 free try), a lower entry price. Worse than Klap at: no API, no scheduling or posting, a watermark on free exports, fewer clips from very long videos, and no third-party reviews yet.

StoryCut Editor
Opus Clip

Opus Clip

Best for: the closest like-for-like, with mobile apps

Price: Starter $15/mo, monthly only (150 credits); Pro $29/mo or $14.50/mo billed yearly per pack (300 credits, 2 seats). Free: 60 credits a month (1 credit = 1 minute of source video), watermarked, clips expire after 3 days. Limits: uploads up to 10 hours; clip lengths from under a minute to 15 minutes; 9:16 only below Pro. Better than Klap at: an iPhone app (4.85 from 7,417 ratings), auto sound effects and voice dubbing in 25 languages on Pro, a free allowance every month, XML export to Premiere and DaVinci. Worse than Klap at: watermarks on Free and the Pro trial, no yearly billing on Starter, captions in 20+ languages against Klap’s 52, no refunds beyond a Pro credit refund.

Vizard

Best for: 4K on the entry plan and strong apps

Price: Creator $29/mo or $14.50/mo billed yearly (600 credits, 1 per uploaded minute); Business $39/mo or $19.50/mo yearly. Free: 60 credits a month, 720p with a watermark, exports up to 10 minutes. Limits: uploads up to 600 minutes on paid plans (60 on Free). Better than Klap at: 4K on the entry plan, AI B-roll even on Free, iPhone and Android apps, Trustpilot 4.7 from 2,521 reviews. Worse than Klap at: a watermark on Free, credits that expire (2 months on monthly plans), refunds only within 7 days and only if unused, brand kit only on Business.

Submagic + Magic Clips

Submagic + Magic Clips

Best for: caption styles on your clips

Price: Magic Clips is a $19/mo add-on (10 uploads) on top of a plan from $12/mo billed yearly. Free: a trial of 3 short videos with a watermark. Magic Clips returns 20+ clips per video with a virality score, usually in 10 to 25 minutes. Better than Klap at: caption styling (35+ styles, including Hormozi 1–5), eye contact on Pro, AI Auto Edit, publishing to 6 networks. Worse than Klap at: you pay for a plan and an add-on, edited videos are capped at 2 minutes on Starter and 5 on Pro, no refunds, no mobile app.

Captions (Clips)

Captions (Clips)

Best for: clipping and editing on an iPhone

Price: Clips is on Max, $24.99/mo (500 credits, 2 seats); Basic is $9.99/mo. Free: 60 to 200 credits for the life of the account. Limits: Clips takes up to 3 hours (10 GB) or a YouTube link and ranks 30+ clips. Better than Klap at: a 4.7-star iPhone app, eye contact, voice dubbing in 31 languages with Lipdub, AI Edit and AI avatars. Worse than Klap at: credits are spent even if you don’t export, AI Edit stops at 2 minutes on iOS, the web app lacks many iPhone features, and monthly plans are non-refundable.

CapCut

CapCut

Best for: a free full editor on every device

Price: the editor is free; Pro costs $19.99/mo or $179.99/yr in the US, and prices vary by region and account. CapCut has a "Long video to short" tool alongside its full timeline editor. Better than Klap at: a complete editor on iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac and the web, a huge template library, AI sound effects and eye contact in the mobile app. Worse than Klap at: you do most of the editing yourself, Pro assets add a watermark on the free plan, Pro’s yearly price rose in 2026, and its terms give CapCut a broad licence to your uploads.

ZapCap

Best for: low-cost captions on short videos

Price: Starter $10/mo or $8/mo billed yearly (15 videos up to 2 minutes); Pro $20 or $16 (50 videos up to 5 minutes); Agency+ $40 or $32 (200 videos up to 10 minutes). Free: 3 videos a month up to 90 seconds, watermarked. Its Viral Video Clipper finds 10 or more clips and reframes them. Better than Klap at: the cheapest paid plan here, a "Hormozi" caption preset, SRT, VTT and TXT export. Worse than Klap at: project length caps of 2 to 10 minutes make it a poor fit for long sources, no eye contact, sound effects added by hand, and little independent review volume.

Free Klap alternatives (and which ones watermark)

Klap is hard to beat on free exports: its 1 free video has no watermark and needs no card. Every other free plan we checked adds a watermark or limits clean exports:

Opus Clip: 60 credits a month (60 minutes of source video), watermarked, and clips can’t be exported after 3 days.

Vizard: 60 credits a month, 720p with a watermark, exports up to 10 minutes, projects kept 3 days.

StoryCut: 1 long video a month into AI clips, plus 3 videos at a time in the editor, 720p with a watermark, no card.

Submagic: a trial of 3 short videos with a watermark; Magic Clips itself is paid.

Captions: 60 to 200 credits for the life of the account; exports that use paid AI features are watermarked.

CapCut: the editor is free, but Pro assets add a watermark, and watermark-free export is locked for free users on web and desktop.

ZapCap: 3 videos a month up to 90 seconds, watermarked.

For clean exports, the cheapest paid plans in this list are StoryCut Starter ($7/mo billed yearly), ZapCap Starter ($8/mo billed yearly), Klap Basic ($14/mo yearly) and Vizard Creator ($14.50/mo yearly).

Watch out: "Klap Ai" on Google Play is not Klap

If you search for "klap" or "klap ai", an Android app called "Klap Ai" shows up near the top of Google. It is not made by Klap. It is published on Google Play by ABD Apps LLC (package com.dos.ai.video.clipping, 10K+ downloads, 3.9 stars), while Klap itself is made by ZIGG SAS and is web only. The "KLAP" app on Apple’s App Store is an unrelated kids’ app.

If you paid for "Klap Ai" in that Android app, the subscription is billed through Google Play, not by Klap, so manage or cancel it in your Google Play subscriptions. To use the real Klap, go to klap.app in a browser.

How we compared

We checked every price, limit and feature on each tool’s own pricing page, help center, terms or app store listing on October 3, 2026, and we say where a vendor contradicts itself or doesn’t publish a number. Ratings come from Trustpilot and the app stores on the same day. "Not found" means we looked on the vendor’s pages and found nothing, which is not proof the feature doesn’t exist. We did not run the same video through every tool for this page.

Klap A/B tests how its pricing page words limits, and several of these tools change prices often, so check the linked pages before you buy. We make StoryCut. Its entries use our own current plans, and we list its weaknesses next to its strengths.
