Q: Is the connector free?

Yes. The connector itself costs nothing and works on every plan, the free plan included. Whatever it starts follows your plan’s normal rules: on the free plan that is 1 AI Clips video a month, processing the first 30 minutes of a longer video.

Q: Which AI assistants work?

Any assistant that supports remote MCP servers. In Claude, add it under Settings → Connectors (custom connector). Clients like Claude Code, Cursor or Windsurf can use the same address. ChatGPT support depends on OpenAI’s connector and apps rollout on your plan.

Q: What access does the assistant get?

Exactly three things: starting an AI Clips run, reading your runs’ status, and reading your remaining allowance. It cannot delete projects, change your account, or see your payment details. Access tokens expire by themselves, and removing the connector from your assistant ends access.

Q: Does the assistant store my StoryCut password?

No. You sign in on a StoryCut page (OAuth with PKCE); the assistant only ever holds a scoped access token, never your password.

Q: Where do my clips live?

On your StoryCut account, exactly as if you had started the run on the website: same clips page, same editor, same exports.

What is the StoryCut MCP connector?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard AI assistants use to work with outside tools. StoryCut runs a remote MCP server at https://app.storycut.com/mcp: add that address to your assistant, sign in to your StoryCut account once, and the assistant can start AI Clips runs, check your clips and read what your plan has left — on your account, with your plan’s normal rules.

Nothing moves to the assistant: your videos, clips and exports stay on StoryCut. The chat is just a faster way to start the work you would otherwise start on the website.
