What is AI eye contact correction?
AI eye contact correction, also called gaze correction, redraws your eyes in each frame of a video so they look into the lens. It is the fix for a take where you read a script, glanced at notes under the webcam or watched yourself on screen: you fix eye contact in the video you already have instead of recording it again.
StoryCut uses NVIDIA’s Maxine Eye Contact model (the official NVIDIA NIM), running in StoryCut’s cloud. You upload the file from any browser, on a Mac, a Windows PC, a Chromebook or a phone, and a short video comes back corrected in a minute or two. There is nothing to install and no graphics card to own.
The correction follows how far you look away. Up to about 20° off the lens, your gaze is fully redirected. Between about 20° and 30°, the effect fades out gradually instead of switching off. Beyond 30°, and whenever you blink or close your eyes, the original frames are kept, so a deliberate look to the side still reads as one.

Make your eyes look at the camera in a video
There are two moments to get it right: while you record, and after. While you record, keep what you read as close to the lens as you can. Put the script in a narrow strip of 3 to 5 words right under the webcam, or on teleprompter glass in front of the lens, and sit back from the screen. The further away the text is and the narrower the line, the smaller each eye movement.
After you record, fix what is left. Upload the video, and the AI redraws your eyes in every frame so they look into the lens. A glance down at notes, a script read beside the camera or watching yourself on screen are all within the roughly 20° it fully corrects. You get back the same video, same length, resolution and audio, with your eyes on the camera.
Recorded video or live webcam: which fix do you need?
Most eye contact tools work on a live camera, not on files. NVIDIA Broadcast corrects your webcam in real time on Windows PCs with an NVIDIA RTX 2060 or better. Windows Studio Effects does it in video calls on Copilot+ PCs, with a stronger Teleprompter mode on Snapdragon models. FaceTime’s Eye Contact works during FaceTime calls on iPhone. All three change what the camera sends while you are live, and none of them can open a video you have already recorded.
StoryCut works the other way round: it only works on files. Upload a Zoom or Loom recording, an OBS capture, a phone video or a camera clip, and the correction is applied after the fact. If you are on calls, use a live tool. If you publish recorded videos, correct the file. NVIDIA also offers its Maxine Eye Contact model to developers through an API; StoryCut runs that model for you, with no code.
