Riverside Eye Contact: Where It Works, and How to Fix Everything Else

Riverside’s eye contact tool, called “Fix gaze” in its help center, corrects tracks you record in a Riverside studio. It can’t open an external upload or a screen share track. Here is what it covers, what it costs, and how to fix the recordings it can’t. Checked on Riverside’s pricing page and help center on October 9, 2026. StoryCut is our product.

Riverside eye contact: the short answer

Which recordings
Riverside’s help center says eye contact “is supported only for tracks recorded on Riverside via a web browser. It cannot be applied to screen share tracks or external uploads.”
Which plan
Pro, Grow, Webinar and Business. Pro is $29 a month, or $24 a month billed yearly ($288 a year). It isn’t on the free plan.
Where you apply it
In the Riverside editor, in a computer browser or the Mac app: open Tracks, click the participant’s name and turn on Eye contact. It can’t be used on a track that already has Enhance video applied.
What else Pro includes
Riverside lists “AI B-roll, eye contact, remove silences & filler words” on Pro, with recording up to 4K and 15 hours of separate-track downloads a month.
For everything else
StoryCut corrects any video file: a Zoom call, a phone or camera clip, or a Riverside track you downloaded. 1 free video up to 4 minutes, then 5 videos for $9 one-time.

What Riverside’s eye contact covers, and what it doesn’t

Riverside’s eye contact works inside its editor, on one track or on all tracks at once. Its help center lists three limits. The track has to be recorded on Riverside in a web browser. Screen share tracks and external uploads can’t be corrected. And a track that already has Enhance video applied can’t take eye contact as well.

That covers the main Riverside use: a remote interview recorded in the studio, with each guest joining from a browser. It leaves out the rest of a typical week of video: a Zoom call, a Loom, a phone video, a camera clip, or footage from another tool that you imported into Riverside to edit.

Riverside’s wording doesn’t mention tracks recorded in its phone apps. If the Eye contact toggle doesn’t appear on a track, treat that track as not supported and correct the file instead.

How It Works

How to fix eye contact on a recording Riverside can’t correct

Three steps in your browser, then back to your edit.

  1. 01
    Get the file

    Get the file

Download the speaker’s separate video track from Riverside, or take the original file from Zoom, your phone or your camera.

  2. 02
    Correct it in StoryCut

Upload the file. NVIDIA’s Maxine Eye Contact model points the eyes at the lens in every frame. A short video takes a minute or two.

  3. 03
Put it back in your edit

Put it back in your edit

Download the corrected MP4 and swap it in, in Riverside or any other editor. The length, frame rate and audio match the original.

Separate tracks, full episodes and long recordings

Riverside records a separate video track for each speaker, and that is the best input for eye contact correction: one face that fills the frame. Correct each speaker’s track on its own rather than a combined layout with everyone in it. The corrected file keeps the original length, frame rate and audio, so it stays in sync with the other tracks.

StoryCut corrects videos up to 10 minutes with the pack and on Pro, and up to 30 minutes on Business, which has unlimited eye contact. An episode longer than 30 minutes has to be split into parts first. For clips cut from an episode, correct only the clip you publish: it is quicker, and it uses one credit.

When Riverside is the better choice

If you record in Riverside’s browser studio and edit there, use its eye contact. It is one toggle per track, on a plan you already pay for, with no export and re-import. Riverside Pro also removes filler words and adds AI B-roll, which StoryCut doesn’t do.

A separate tool makes sense for the recordings Riverside won’t correct, or if you don’t need a recording studio and only want the gaze fixed. StoryCut’s $9 pack covers 5 videos with no subscription, and the credits never expire.
