Drop a screenshot, your cover image or the video itself on the 9:16 frame. For a video, pick the frame with the slider.
Check the red areas
Red areas are where the Reels header, the like, comment and share buttons, the username and the caption sit. Keep text inside the green outline.

What are the safe zones in Reels and Stories?
Meta asks advertisers to leave about 14% at the top, 35% at the bottom and 6% on each side of a 9:16 Reel or Story free of text and logos. On a 1080×1920 video that’s 269 px at the top, 672 px at the bottom and 65 px on each side. The bottom zone is the biggest because the username, follow button, caption, audio and action buttons all sit there.
Instagram Reels safe zone tips
- Keep text, faces and logos between 269 px and 1,248 px from the top of a 1080×1920 frame.
- The like, comment and share buttons sit in the lower right: keep key elements out of that corner.
- The same safe zone works for Stories, which have a reply bar at the bottom instead of the caption.
- Put your hook text in the upper half of the safe area: it’s the first thing people read.
- Check your cover image too, since it’s shown on your profile grid cropped from the center.
